GOED Publishes 2025 Member Survey Results

Screen Shot 2025-08-01 at 1.14.05 PM

As the industry wraps up the first half of 2025, GOED is delighted to share the results of our annual survey measuring GOED members’ satisfaction with our work and the value they find in different GOED activities.

92% of respondents, whose demographics in terms of geography and member level matched the overall membership, reported being satisfied with their GOED membership. 62% reported that they were “highly satisfied.”

As in previous years, the bulk of respondents’ highest-valued GOED projects included asking GOED staff questions on different topics, PR “crisis management,” global advocacy for omega-3s to regulators, and our annual Ingredient Market Report. Two initiatives launched since our last survey in 2024, our position statement on fish oil versus algae oil and our new Global Omega-3 Navigator — ranked #13 and #14 respectively out of 37 ranked activities.

When asked about general industry areas of concern, members especially highlighted (1) supply chain issues, (2) regulatory concerns like new MOAH regulations in the EU, and (3) tackling misleading claims about one type of omega-3 oil being superior to another. Readers can read the slides below with more details.

New US Executive Order on Tariffs Announced

Last week, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing new tariffs on imports from many countries around the world. The Executive Order, which impacts countries that have not entered into a trade agreement with the US or are not negotiating in good faith, implements generally higher reciprocal tariff rates. Countries listed in Annex I of the Executive Order will be subject to the tariff specified therein, while countries not listed in Annex I will be subject to a 10% tariff.

In addition, Trump signed a separate executive order raising tariffs on goods from Canada from 25% to 35%.

To date, no tariff exemptions have been granted for omega-3 products. Up-to-date details on the tariff situation can be found here.

GOED Research Award Winners Publish Two Articles Citing CSD

Two of GOED’s 2024/5 CSD Research Award Winners have published papers citing GOED’s Clinical Study Database (CSD) as a source in their research.

Dr. Halliru Zailani from the China Medical University and his colleagues published “Nutraceutical eicosapentaenoic acid in treatment-resistant depression: The psychoneuroimmunity and clinical implications.” The paper, which was published in Pharmacological Research, expands our understanding of relationship between EPA and treatment-resistant depression.

Jaqueline Munhoz (PhD Candidate) from the University of Alberta and her colleagues published “Perspective: Implications of Docosahexaenoic Acid and Eicosapentaenoic Acid Supplementation on the Immune System during Cancer Chemotherapy: Perspectives from Current Clinical Evidence” in Advances in Nutrition, describing the interplay between immune health and cancer and what is needed in future trials.

We are pleased to see these new publications highlighting important omega-3 science and strengthening the credibility of the CSD as an important resource in scientific research.
