GOED Completes 2024 Randomized Testing Program
The 2024 edition of GOED’s Randomized Testing Program is now complete, providing us with a global overview of EPA/DHA omega-3 finished product quality among our members. This yearly initiative offers valuable insights into both ongoing and emerging challenges, allowing us to give constructive feedback to product owners to support quality improvements.
Twenty-two finished products from GOED members were randomly chosen and tested for all aspects of quality as defined by the GOED Voluntary Monograph. This encompasses EPA/DHA content, oxidative quality and environmental contaminants. The analysis was carried out by Eurofins. Products were transported and stored in their original packaging at room temperature, protected from light until analysis. The products were analyzed before their stated date of expiry. Overall, most of the products tested this year were of high quality and met the GOED Monograph quality criteria. There was 100% compliance with environmental contaminants and secondary oxidation. Label claim compliance for EPA and DHA content was high. However, more products than in previous years appeared to struggle with maintaining control over primary oxidation.
Please note that GOED does not analyze or make any representation of accuracy for the Omega-3 News items. This is simply a compilation of news articles found on the internet that are relevant to the EPA and DHA business.
