MOAH Letter Submitted to European Commission
GOED has submitted a letter to the European Commission (EC) with comments regarding the proposed SANTE PLAN 2023/2345 Rev.1. and associated “Discussion paper as regards maximum levels for MOAH in food." The letter is in response to an EC request for comments following last month’s stakeholder meeting. GOED will keep members informed on any reply received by the EC, and about any new statements from the EC.

A class action lawsuit has been filed against GOED member Nature's Bounty alleging its fish oil supplements are falsely advertised as beneficial for cardiovascular health.
The US Food and Drug Administration has renamed its Dietary Supplement Ingredient Directory to "Information on Select Dietary Supplement Ingredients and Other Substances," and added classification categories based on stakeholder feedback. The list now includes 79 entries.

Convenient store chain 7-Eleven in Singapore now offers local dietary supplement brand Ocean Health’s products including the company's Omega-3 Fish Oil gummies.
US premium pet food brand Nutrish launched three new wet dog food formulas focused on overall health and gentle digestion. One of the new recipes, Chunks in Gravy with Turkey, features omega-3 fatty acids, proteins and whole grains to promote cognitive activity and balanced energy.
Pet food brand Ark Naturals introduced Lickable Dental Treats for cats. These wet tube treats support oral health with a toothpaste center and include omega-3 fatty acids for overall wellness.
GOED member Epax has obtained the FSSC 22000 certification for food safety built on international food safety standards set by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
GOED member Aker BioMarine reported its Q4 2023 financial results, revealing a record 21% year-on-year revenue growth for the year. The company generated 3.5 billion NOK (US$403 million, €360 million) in 2023 and 880 million NOK (US$100 million, €89 million) in Q4, a 5% increase compared to the same quarter in 2022.
GOED member FrieslandCampina saw a 7% decline in revenues to €13 billion (US$14 billion) in 2023 and an 84% decrease in operating profit to €75 million (US$81 million).
In Q4 2023, GOED member Thai Union reported its highest sales for the year with a 4.8% increase to THB 35.5 billion (US$1.08 billion, €939 million), driven by a strong rebound in Frozen and PetCare categories. In addition, Thai Union achieved significant recognition for its sustainable practices, being listed on the 2023 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices for the 10th consecutive year and securing the top rank on the Seafood Stewardship Index (SSI) for the third consecutive time.
Researchers from Australia’s Nuclear Science and Technology Organization developed a handheld device that identifies whether seafood is wild-caught or farmed by analyzing a chemical fingerprint influenced by factors like diet and climate.
