GOED Current Lead image -toolkit

GOED has updated the 2026 Communications Toolkit, a comprehensive resource designed to help brands and marketing professionals effectively communicate the benefits of EPA and DHA omega-3s. We have gotten positive feedback from our members about this toolkit, so we kept the key components:

  • Omega-3 Key Messages: Consumer-friendly messaging on the health benefits of EPA and DHA omega-3s.
  • Global Observance Calendar: A guide to global events that create opportunities to spotlight the importance of omega-3s year-round.

And we’ve updated the:

  • Infographics: Refreshed visuals on heart, eye, prenatal health and more, with many available in Spanish, Simplified Chinese and Korean (plus Turkish, Italian and Japanese).
  • Sample Social Media Posts: Pre-crafted content to streamline your digital campaigns. You can download GOED’s graphics and post them as is or customize them to fit your brand.
  • Short videos featuring GOED and experts: Alongside guest experts covering topics like athletic performance and men’s health, GOED’s Elana Natker, RD, and Kaitlin Roke, PhD, have recorded social-media-ready videos that members are welcome to use.

Let this toolkit be your go-to resource to communicate all things EPA and DHA

Regulatory & Technical Updates

AOCS GOED Nutraceutical Oils LPP Updated

An update to the AOCS GOED Nutraceutical Oils Laboratory Proficiency Program (LPP) was recently approved by AOCS. The changes are the following:

Area % reporting for EPA, DHA and five other omega-3 fatty acids, alpha-linolenic acid, stearidonic acid, eicosatetraenoic acid n-3, heneicosapentaenoic acid and docosapentaenoic acid n-3 will become optional from the current 2025/2026 series going forward and will not contribute to laboratories’ final proficiency score. Besides Acid Value, Peroxide Value, Anisidine Value and Totox Value, only the results for the quantification of EPA, DHA and Total Omega-3 expressed in mg/g oil, and not those for the other five omega-3 fatty acids, will contribute to the final proficiency score.

With these updates, the accurate quantification of EPA, DHA and Total Omega-3 content of EPA/DHA omega-3 oils is emphasized in this LPP series. The update also allows laboratories with pharmacopeial obligations to only quantify EPA, DHA and Total Omega-3, while not being penalized for not quantifying the other five omega-3 fatty acids in mg/g. Guidance on how to quantify Total Omega-3 content is provided in GOED’s Guidance Documents.

New to this year’s Nutraceutical Oils LPP is the optional measurement of vitamins A, D and E (tocopherol). Further information can be found here.
